TOWSON FOOTBALL HONORS A LEGEND
Coach Phil Albert
April 4, 1944-December 8, 2020
Phil Albert may not be the patriarch of Towson Football, but he is certainly its architect. "Coach A" amassed a school-record 117 wins in 20 seasons as Tiger head coach, guiding the Tigers to playoff appearances in Division III (including a national championship game appearance) and Division II before shepherding the program into Division I. His presence and influence are still felt each time the Tigers take the field.
Sadly, Coach A passed away in December 2020, leaving a void in the lives of the players and coaches he influenced and in the Tiger football program as a whole. When the Tigers take the field in fall 2021, they will honor his memory, and making a gift to Towson Football is your chance to do the same.
Our goal is to raise $350,000 in Coach A's memory, culminating with a Celebration of Life at SECU Arena on Sept. 17 starting at 6:00 p.m. with doors open at 5:00 p.m., the unveiling of Coach A's commemorative bust on the South Concourse at Johnny Unitas® Stadium during our home opener against North Dakota State on Sept. 18 and, once we reach our goal, the naming of the scoreboard at Johnny Unitas® Stadium in his memory. Hotel room blocks are now available for the weekend of Sept. 17-19; please feel free to begin calling for your reservations.
The room block at both hotels is listed under “Towson Football Weekend”. For rooms at Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel ($149 per night for king or double), contact Cherise Bromley at (443) 921-2309. For rooms at Delta Hotels by Marriott Baltimore Hunt Valley ($139 per night for king or double), contact Donna DeClementi at (410) 785-7000.
Make your gift to Towson Football to be part of this lifelong celebration, and to ensure the program Coach A helped build remains strong in his memory. Additionally, in order to adjust our head count accordingly, we ask that you register for the Celebration of Life at SECU Arena event on Sept. 17 in advance. To do so, click here.
