About This Campaign

When:  Sunday, October 13th.  12 pm 4 pm.

Where:  Burdick Field, PAWS Pavilion, and University Union.

What:  Towson University’s Fraternity & Sorority Life Office (FSL) and Military & Veterans Center (MVC) will host the 2024 Old Skool Challenge to kick-off Homecoming season and fundraise to support the Military and Veterans Support Program within the TU Foundation. This Olympic style event will bring together MVC and FSL to compete on two teams one comprised of Greek students and alumni, and one comprised of Veteran students and alumni with ROTC. This afternoon of events will have three rounds of competition, with concurrent challenges, ranging from Tug of War and Pugil Sticks to Trivia and a Spirit Competition. While teams are competing, guests can explore an array of family-friendly activities, including food vendors, a bounce house, games, and football watch parties.

The winning team will earn not only bragging rights, but also the coveted Old Skool Cup, awarded by the Senior Vice President of Student Affairs and University Life, Dr. Vernon Hurte. This Old Skool Cup will stay in the victorious side’s office until next year’s challenge. The victors will be gloriously commemorated on the cup, and the goal is for this inaugural challenge to become a cherished TU tradition for years to come.

About the Towson University Military and Veterans Program within the TU Foundation:

This fund aims to empower social enrichment opportunities, crucial career- and wellbeing-related programming, and emergency support for our students supported by the Military and Veterans Center.

All proceeds from this inaugural Homecoming event will support this program, a charitable initiative that improves the lives of student-veterans and their family members at TU.
