This initiative celebrates and honors the influential Black leaders who have been pioneers in their roles at our university. Raft Woodus Student Success Programs Fund Raft Woodus, Towson University's first Black community member to create a residential learning program, spent nearly 40 years as the director of Student Success Programs. His dedication to guiding Black students and fostering academic success is honored through this fund.
Whitney LeBlanc Memorial Fund Whitney LeBlanc, Towson’s first Black faculty member in 1965, was a pioneer in creating an inclusive academic environment. This fund honors his legacy and supports scholarships and opportunities for future students. ___________________
Barnes-Harris Scholarship Endowment The Barnes-Harris Scholarship Endowment honors Towson’s first Black graduates, Marvis Evon Barnes ’59 and Myra Ann Harris ’59. This fund celebrates their achievements and provides scholarships for students of color, ensuring their legacy continues through vital financial support.
Dr. Julius Chapman Memorial Fund Dr. Julius Chapman, Towson’s first Black dean, was a dedicated advocate for student success. This fund supports programs that continue his legacy of fostering academic achievement and personal growth.
